SAKER RACING
Saker Sportscars was founded in 1992 by Bruce Turnbull, one of New Zealand’s most respected engineers, who had a vision to produce a fast, eye catching and affordable sports car that would excel as both an accomplished circuit racer and a unique race engineered road car.
The new Saker GT is testament to Bruce’s concept of good engineering and affordability, and Sakers are today sold and assembled worldwide from Japan to the United States, achieving particular popularity and success in The Netherlands with the highly successful “Saker Sportscar Challenge”.
Globally, the Saker name is also building serious track credibility with strong performances throughout New Zealand, Australia, Europe, and the USA. In only their first seasons of competition, Saker race cars became a force to be reckoned with, competing in GT and Endurance class races throughout Europe, GT and Sportscar classes in New Zealand and Endurance events in the USA. At their first race in Germany, the Sakers qualified 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th, and they finished 1st, 2nd and 5th against some formidable competition including 911 Turbos, GT3s and BMW E30s.
The Saker Sportscar has proven that the combination of a reliable powertrain and a superior suspension results in outstanding cornering ability and overall lap speed – outperforming race cars costing several times that of the Saker.
And this success is set to continue in 2009 when Saker Sportscars venture into Southeast Asia with the new Saker GT220 and Saker GT500 sportscars built around advanced all-aluminum V6 and V8 engines, guaranteed to set pulses racing throughout the region!
